I bought this burner for melting pewter to cast. It does the job nicely. Gets very hot. I'd say it took less than ten minutes to melt a pound of pewter.
I was a little nervous when I took it out the package, because the element rattles around a bit. I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable putting a large pan on top.
