This is the best consumer hot plate out there. It has a quality build and short cycle time that keeps temperatures very steady. The long cycle times built into cheap hot plates can cause temperatures to fluctuate by 30 to 60 degrees, making them frustrating to use.
At work, I use a $500 laboratory hotplate that is extremely accurate and so perhaps I am a bit more demanding that the ordinary consumer. If you appreciate quality and are tired of buying junk, then this is the one....
