i purchased this from walmart for 19.99. it is 900 watts, like the small burner is on a standard electric stove. however, this burner does not provide continuous 900 watts and cycles on and off on "high".

as such water does not boil w/o putting a lid on the pot. if you remove the lid, the water is just on a slow simmer, as if its on medium high setting instead of high. in other words, the high setting on the table top burner is no better than the medium high setting on...
