It's a standard hot plate, great for our big family because it can take some knocks and bumps. You don't have to be delicate with it. I've used one like this for a few years and it hasn't let me down yet! Good for shabbos, no temperature gages or fluxuating lights (on-off).

This hot plate really gets hot! My dish was actually bubbling. It might be better if there was a hi/low option. It looks good, very sleek and clean, and it's large enough to hold several dishes.
