I got this for fathers day for my Dad and it takes a little while the first time to change images but after 4 uses the mug did change very quickly.

(The mug is actually a very dark brown and you can sort of make out the words when it is completely cold)

From the photos, it looks like the dark color is dark enough to completely hide the image. In this case, it isn't quite dark enough for that. So when the mug is on the shelf, you can tell what is on it: though ...
